How to report safely

We protect what you send us, but some risks are on your side of the screen. Here's how to reduce them.

What we do

We don't store your IP address with your report, we encrypt what you send, and we never publish names from unverified allegations. But no website can promise perfect anonymity.

What you can do

  • Use a personal device, not a work or shared computer.
  • Avoid your workplace network. Mobile data or a home connection is better. For more protection, consider the Tor Browser.
  • Use a private window and close it when you finish.
  • Leave out details only you would know — your exact application number, a rare personal circumstance, the precise minute something happened.
  • Check your files. Crop out names and faces; remember that videos and PDFs may contain hidden details.
  • Keep your tracking code private. Don't save it on a shared device or send it in a chat.
  • Think about timing. If only a few people were present, reporting immediately may make it easier to guess who you are.

If you paid

Paying a bribe can itself be an offence. Our form lets you explain the circumstances, and we don't treat reporters as suspects or share your details with the agency involved. If you're worried about legal exposure, speak to a lawyer or the Public Attorney's Office first.
