Reporting guidelines

How to write a report that is useful, fair and safe.

Describe, don't accuse

Say what you saw and heard: what was asked, by whom (their role, not their name), when, where and how much. Avoid conclusions like “this office is corrupt”. Facts are more useful and protect you legally.

Leave out names

You don't need to name anyone. Describe the role (“the clerk at window 3”). If a name is essential, reviewers will see it, but it will never be published from an unverified report.

Protect yourself

  • Leave out details only you would know, like your application number.
  • Crop personal information out of screenshots and photos.
  • Read how to report safely if you're worried about retaliation.

What's in scope

Anything involving government personnel, offices, agencies, government-owned corporations or public services. Private-sector disputes are out of scope unless public officials are involved.

What we'll reject

  • Spam, advertising, or the same report submitted many times.
  • Reports that are only insults or threats.
  • Reports clearly intended to harass a specific person.
  • Political campaign material.
